Here, There, Everywhere!

Hel-LOOO!

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I've blogged!  As I mentioned in my last blog post, I was having an exciting May full of travels and it was definitely my most jet-setting experience ever!

First, I was off States side to get up to some shenanigans and play with my crafty buddies Marti and Ann!  This trip had been a long time coming as I hadn't actually seen Marti since I met up with her at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) in California back in 2009!  Here's a few photos from our weekend!  And by few I probably mean a lot since you can't get scrapbookers together without taking a LOT of pictures! *LOL*

(L-R: Marti, Suzanne, Me and Ann)

There's us after Marti's last class which she taught and I totally rocked it out by being the BESTEST helper ever! I mean, no one - and I mean NO ONE hands out paper towels like I can!

You know what's awesome about meeting friends for dinner in Maryland? Maryland CRABS!  OMG, I was in seafood heaven, y'all! *swoon* That's Maryland lump crab in some sauce of some type.  When they first put it in front of me, I was like, 'that's it?' but it was SO filling! There was SO much crab, I couldn't even finish my potato and veggies (not that I was too sad about the veggies!)

After classes, it was time to have my American adventure with my American buddies!  First stop: afternoon tea at the Tea on the Tiber!  I was SO super excited for this as I've been wanting to experience a fancy afternoon tea.  Thank GOODNESS the owners of Tea on the Tiber were SO super nice and did everything they could to fit us into a tea time.

Now that's what I was waiting for!  If only I could have had a whole three tier assembly for myself instead of sharing! *LOL*

I guess I wasn't exactly starving for food!  I love afternoon tea food!  It's so small and dainty! So much easier to put the entire thing in my mouth!

Now one of the most IMPORTANT parts of the trip: CUPCAKES!  Due to some time constraints and a sassy little 5 year old demanding that we return home immediately, we had to cut out 55 of the 57 cupcakes stops I had lined up (there may be a slight exaggeration).  But we were able to stop at two and it was so worth it!

Mmmm!  From AngelCakes I tried their salted caramel cupcake with fleur de sel and their red velvet!  Honestly, you can not go wrong with their display! I loved it!

Next up - which, conveniently, was only down the street:

Sweet Angela's Cupcakery which was just as sweet as its name - and PINK!  Here I got their red velvet so I could compare between the two red velvets that I got and then I got their Oreo cupcake.  Is it bad that I couldn't even figure out any cons to any of the cupcakes?! *LOL*

After our cupcake stops, we  headed back and picked up Marti's hubster Kev (who I'm sure was TOTALLY excited about being stuck with us three for the weekend!) and we headed for a last minute idea that I had.  I wanted to shoot some GUNS!

Apparently, watching TV has given me a slightly different view of gun control in America.  I figured we could just stop at a drug store or something and pick up a gun - which I'm told is not EXACTLY correct.  I may have also been slightly exaggerating...

So Kevin was kind enough to gather his pieces and take us to Blue Ridge Arsenal in VA where we had an hour to shoot.  All the way there, Kevin made sure I got earfuls of gun safety and gun control and I was properly scared of and had a very deep respect for the seriousness of gun handling.

And ZOMBIES.  I am very prepared for a zombiepocalypse!

Turns out, I'm kiiiiind of a good shot! It surprised even ME!  Or I'm just very angry at zombies.  One too many Walking Dead marathons!

Awww, this new buddy of mine was kind enough to let me hang out with some guns on the wall! *LOL*

And to end the fantastic evening, more CRABS!

...and CUPCAKE time!

Nothing says an all-American evening like delicious crabs, cupcakes and learning how to clean guns where I pinched myself in the gun clip.

Thanks for indulging me in this little flashback of my trip.  I had such an AWESOME time and can't wait for another Marti/Ann and Catherine adventure!

I'm choosing to block out the crazy, non-fun parts from my return trip in which my flight was delayed and then delayed and then cancelled and I had to hang out overnight!  I was home one week and then off again on a jet plane!

Stay Sweet,
Catherine

I was just looking at pics again last night to cheer me up. It was such a fun time! We need to do it more often.

You must've really had a bad flight experience because I still haven't heard that part of the story. Next time I'll pick you up @ the border & we'll hit every cupcake shop on the way!
